Worship Services

In everyday life, we face a choice: to cling to God and choose to worship Him, even when it hurts, or be overwhelmed by the troubles and hurtful circumstances and start magnifying them. We can choose to be overwhelmed by the love and beauty of God himself. At Long Grove Community Church we want to be the kind of worshipper who will absolutely refuse to be discouraged or distracted by the circumstances or the problems around us in our quest to glorify God. We all have a call on our lives, which is to know God. 1 Corinthians 1:9 (NKJV) says, “God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” We don’t know where you are today in your relationship with God, but we’d like to tell you that there are deeper and more intimate levels. You can never know God well enough, but you can raise your hunger for Him, His Word, and the Living Word, Jesus.

Contemporary worship

Congregation1

Our 9:00 a.m. service is held in our Community House and is an informal, relational, expressive service with audio-visuals, dramas, and contemporary music. You’ll worship God with our piano, keyboard, electric guitars, percussion instruments, violins, etc. You’ll be led in song by our praise team. People are free to clap and raise their hands in praise. The spoken word is the same as the traditional service. You'll enjoy fellowship after the service.  Childcare and teen programs available.

Traditional worship

Our 10:45 a.m. service is held in our 160 year old sanctuary and is a place for meditation, contemplation and prayerful rest. You'll enjoy worship of the Lord without all the technical "noise" of the 21st century. Hymns are sung with our 150 year old pipe organ. The spoken word is the same as the contemporary service. You'll experience a softer presence of God in His sanctuary. Our fellowship time starts before service in the community house around 10:15. Childcare available.

Music, Drama, and Arts

Worship & Arts Ministry
While the vision of LGCC for worship is to be a church in which every generation encounters God in spirit led worship, our ministry is first to the Lord, then to the people. Our goals are:

  1. Turn “song time” into “worship time” blessing and ministering to God.
  2. We want people so excited about the Lord and the church, that they are eager to join us on Sunday morning, get involved in serving, and bring their friends to church.

The planning of worship services is focused on the word preached in the sermon. We also take into consideration people’s desires. We try to use different styles of music, such as: classical, contemporary, traditional, and even secular as a contrast to the message.  Sometimes, we invite musicians outside the church to help us make our services more meaningful and interesting.

The second Sunday of the month is Family Sunday. The worship is led by our talented youth. We are delighted to see our young generation lead us in worship, greet, usher, and take care of other little things around the church.   We are a church that values families, so we keep our families involved.

Instead of a formal choir, we have a wonderful and exciting group called Rejoice Voices that meets and rehearses one Wednesday a month and sings one Sunday a month and on special occasions such as Christmas and Easter.

Ministry Service Opportunities

Praise Team & Band: These teams provide the music and lead the singing in our worship service.

A/V & Media: This team provides all of the sound, lighting and audiovisual support for our worship services.

Drama: The drama team provides skits that support the sermons during the year on Sunday.  During our special services like Christmas and Easter, we use even more dramatic presence.

Creative Team: A brainstorming team that develops creative ideas for our worship experiences meets regularly.

Prepare a Place: The wonderful, warm, and inviting decorations in our services and in our worship buildings are planned and provided by this group.

Greeters: This ministry greets worshipers as they come into service, welcomes them, hands out the bulletins, and takes people to their seats.

Ushers: This team distributes the bulletin, helps us find a seat on Sunday morning and collect the offering. They generally help out with the logistics of the weekly services and special services.

Communion: The first Sunday of the month is our Communion service. This team assists the pastors and elders in serving communion to our congregation.
