New Year Greetings!!

As we face a new year in our journey on this Earth, I want to express my sincere appreciation for all the support that has found its way to me via God's people here at LGCC.  I stand amazed at the kind words, notes of encouragement and prayers that so many have offered the Lord on my behalf.  I am both blessed and humbled at the notion that folks will take the time to express their kindness to me in so many wonderful ways.

I am more aware of all this because I am beginning my last year as Senior Pastor of LGCC.  I announced to the Elder Board and the Church, early in 2019, that I would be leaving my ministry at LGCC by the end of 2020.  The purpose was to give the church sufficient time to search for a new man to pastorally lead the church. 

As I write this blog, a search has been underway for many months and at some point in the first six months of this New Year, there will be an opportunity for the church to issue a call for a new Senior Pastor.  I am excited for the church at what God is going to do under new pastoral leadership and sense this excitement is shared by many.  That pleases me.

It would be so easy find reason to be a little hurt when someone sounds excited about the future, as though I am already gone.  But to me, I am not.  I want the folks around here to be excited and greatly anticipating what is in store as a new Senior Pastor comes and lays out for the church his heart for the future of LGCC.  

This chapter in the long history of LGCC is being written right now and God is going to do what is needed to help this church and its new Senior Pastor fulfill the God designed destiny for LGCC. Who can't be excited for that?  What a God! What a time to be a part of LGCC!!

So rather than some pithy blog reflecting on deep or not so deep subjects of life and faith, my message this month is to pray.  I want to invite you to pray for the leadership of this church as they wade through the waters of the search looking for God to present to them the man called by God to pastor this church. 

Pray for the yet to be named pastor and his family, that God will lead them and provide for them a clear path of coming to LGCC. 

And pray for the people of LGCC. Pray they will be excited at the future before them and all that God has in store for them and their ministries.  Pray they will continue to be faithful to the Lord and loving toward the new pastor.  Pray they will amaze him also with their kind words, notes of encouragement and prayers on his behalf.

I close this thought with the following which best reflects my heart for LGCC:

14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.  (Ephesians 3:14-21)
