Wedding Ministry

The Long Grove Community Church (LGCC) is a beautiful old church. The historic sanctuary, built in 1848, is well maintained by the congregation. It is a picturesque reminder of days gone by. The Sanctuary was constructed as a New England style meeting house. Set in Long Grove, Illinois, people often remark that it reminds them of the idealized country church.

For more than 25 years, Long Grove Community Church has opened its doors to couples who want to be married at our church. The Sanctuary can accommodate up to 150 guests. Because of the limited space in the Chancel area, couples are encouraged to limit their Bridal Party to 6 bridesmaids and 6 groomsmen, not including flower girls and/or ring bearers who will be seated after coming down the aisle.

The wedding ministry is headed up by Sue Adams, Wedding Coordinator. For information as to availability of dates and fees, please call Sue at 847-634-3635 during her regular office hours.  Sue is in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays or contact her via e-mail at Weddings.

Our fees include the Minister, live music, church fee, formal rehearsal the night before or the day of and the premarital seminar.  We will allow an aisle runner (35 feet long), participating minister, doves &/or butterflies to be released, soloists, your own music (must be approved prior to wedding), flowers on the altar and outside railing, and unity candles or mixing of the sand.  We do not allow bubbles, bird seed, rice, flower petals dropped (real or artificial), bows or flowers on the pews, or animals.

Wedding Requisites:

There are some requirements that must be fulfilled for those who wish to be married at LGCC:

  1. A tentative wedding date and time must be arranged with the Wedding Coordinator. Reservations are accepted beginning the last week of the month preceding the wedding date, twelve months in advance. When calling to reserve a date, the Wedding Coordinator will be able to quote fees and answer any general questions you might have. When you tentatively schedule your wedding date and time, it will be reserved until your formal meeting with the Wedding Coordinator. Most questions can be answered over the phone and you are encouraged to call first.

  2. You are required to meet with the Wedding Coordinator. At that time, she will answer all of your questions and provide you with important information regarding the restrictions on the use of the church, where to get your marriage license, information about our wedding seminar, and your upcoming minister's meeting. You will also be required to leave a deposit at that time. Your deposit will hold your date and time until the wedding. If you cancel the wedding at least 90 days prior to the wedding date, the church will refund all but $50.

  3. Couples meet with the marrying minister, generally 2-4 weeks prior to the wedding date. During this one-hour meeting, you will discuss details and logistics of the wedding ceremony, selection of your wedding music, and spend a little time getting to know each other.

  4. Wedding semnars are held on Saturdays several times throughout the year.  Please contact the Wedding Coordinator for future seminar meeting dates and times.  To register for a seminar, e-mail us at marryme@lgcc2day.com.

Long Grove Community Church has been blessed by God to provide this wonderful wedding ministry. The church opens its doors to you, in the hope that you will open your hearts to God and realize how much God loves you and wants you to be part of His Church-the family of God.
